Open Science is a movement for transparency in research and access to the dissemination of research findings and underlying data. Open Science includes the concept of open access publishing, or the concept of publishing scientific findings without a paywall, but goes beyond this to include making code, data and methods available to allow for increased awareness and reproducibility of research activities. Foster’s six pillars of Open Science are: open methodology, open source, open data, open access, open peer review, and open educational resources.
