Subaward Project
NAPC Promotion Award
First 5 Tehama, identified a local rural need to focus on equitable health information access for families in the 2022-2027 strategic plan. Specifically these funds will ensure that Tehama County LIbrary has staff onsite trained in the Medline Plus tool and All Of Us resources by attending in-person training offered in April and spending staff time becoming familir with the tool. Additionally it will ensure that First 5 Tehama has a bilingual outreach specialist trained by attending in person training who will provide bilingual All of Us promotion at the Tehama County Library branches. The Tehama County Library is understaffed and hosting outreach is currently challenging; they have invited us to partner with them offering our staff time but engaging patrons in the library space. This partnership is increasing capacity of the library as well as increasing awarenss of bilingual evidence based health tools to the community. The funds will pay for the bilingual outreach specialists time in training, and hosting outreach at each of the locations. To promote beyond the 4 walls of the library the funds will provide staff time to engage the wider health worker community in Tehama through newsletters, invitations to attend the outreach provided by the bilingual outreach specialists and online videos. The money will go to paying for the consultant to write the newsletter and create the video that can be shared through the library communication channels as well as First 5 communication channels. Lastly, printed outreach materials will be created for each branch of Tehama County library as well as offered to the wider health worker community. The goal of this is to not only share the All of Us infomraiton but also increase engagement between the health worker community and the library so they become more likely to direct their clients/ patients/ families to the library for evidence based resources. The funds will be used to print this bilingual outreach including the All Of Us materials as well as banners, stands, and tablets available for library patrons to explore the All Of Us information on. The library has one tablet for this; based on the funding available we will provide additional tablets as well.
