Making Health Happen”, is a pilot program that promotes health screening and use of telehealth in rural communities and has leveraged community resources to promote their health services/screenings at these events. Making Health Happen is similar to a health fair, but provides health screenings, such as HIV/Hep C, A1C screening,COVID-19 screenings, Etc. We currently are collaborating with Southern Highlands Mental Center, Connection to the Connections-Senior Service, Open Heart Ministries-Homeless Services, Tug River Clinic, Stop Abusive Family Environments-Domestic Violence Services, West Virginia University’s Extension Programs-Diabetes Prevention, and Clean Water Program, CASEWV-Project Yes-Youth Services, WV Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program, WVU Lung Cancer Screening, Ascension Recovery Services, Unicare-Health Insurance Plans, Integrated Resources- Resources Distribution, WV Aging and Disabilities Resource Center. As we further expand this program, we will identify new health screening resources to participate in the screening events, as well as build capacity with the vendors to utilize technology to access quality health information and prevention for chronic diseases, telehealth services, promote COVID-19 prevention, testing and vaccinations. Build capacity in the community facilities to continue hosting health screenings in rural communities. SCED will also utilize funds to upgrade out 10-unit computer lab for community use. the lab will be utilized by HIV Positives persons, people living with Hep c, community members in recovery services.  The lab will also be utilized during community trainings, presentation and workshop, pertaining to healthy lifestyles.
