Earning both the level I and II Systematic Review Services Specialization certificates build upon the skills needed to contribute to the creation of high quality, reproducible scientific and biomedical research. This specialization increases the value of my skills and overall value to a research team. The level of quality of searches completed by a trained librarian compared to that of an untrained searcher is measurable and has been noted in studies. Medical librarians work with medical and academic databases daily, whereas most researchers do not. Having a team member with the advanced search skills needed to find the most relevant data is a huge advantage when synthesizing empirical evidence on a specific topic.
