Supplemental Collection Equity Award Y2 - University of Alaska Anchorage Medical Library

The Collection Equity Outreach Award would allow the UAA/APU Consortium Library to further supplement the initial grant in purchasing books for the physical and electronic health sciences collection to support the diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives of the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Strategic Plan for 2025.
Collection decisions will be made based on two of the UAA Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan’s seven objectives (UAA Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, 2020, p.4-5): · Student Success: target underrepresented populations such as African American, Alaska Native, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander students. · Take it to the Curriculum: enhance diverse curriculum and pedagogy After selection, books would be promoted through the continued updating of a public facing online LibGuide on the library website. This guide would advertise the award materials to UAA’s academic community and would be featured in the library blog and social media platforms. The collection would also be shared with the College of Health as part of the nursing and allied health library liaison work. A month long Diversity in AK Health Care display table could be set up in the Library for students, faculty and staff to peruse and check-out.
